Stretch fabrics are now a common feature of modern workwear, helping garments move naturally with the wearer. But while many people think of stretch as a single technology, there are actually different ways of achieving it.

How does stretch technology work?

Carrington Textiles uses different approaches to create stretch fabrics.

Some fabrics incorporate advanced stretch technologies, such as XLANCE®, Sorona® or LYCRA® T400®, allowing the fabric to stretch and recover while helping to maintain its shape. These technologies provide excellent freedom of movement and long-lasting performance.

Other fabrics achieve mechanical stretch through a combination of specific yarn engineering and fabric construction. This creates controlled flexibility without relying on elastic fibres, while maintaining excellent durability and dimensional stability.

Each approach is designed to meet different performance requirements, allowing the right stretch solution to be selected for different working environments.
