Did you know? MultiCam® isn't designed for just one environment. Here's why.

When people think of camouflage, they often picture a pattern created for a specific environment, such as woodland or desert. MultiCam® was developed with a different objective.

Rather than being designed to work in one particular landscape, MultiCam® was engineered to remain effective across a wide range of environments, adapting to changing terrain, vegetation and lighting conditions.

That versatility is what has made it one of the world’s most widely adopted camouflage systems.

How does MultiCam® work?

Designed by Crye Precision, MultiCam® uses a carefully engineered combination of colours, gradients and pattern geometry to help break up the wearer’s outline.

Unlike traditional camouflage patterns, which are often developed for a single environment, MultiCam® is designed to perform effectively across woodland, desert, grassland, scrub, rocky terrain and mixed urban settings.

This adaptability helps provide consistent concealment across varied operational environments without the need to change camouflage patterns.

As surrounding conditions change, the pattern continues to blend naturally with different landscapes and lighting, helping maintain effective concealment throughout a mission.

More than one camouflage pattern

Although many people think of MultiCam® as a single camouflage pattern, it is actually a family of patterns developed for different operational environments.

The range includes:

MultiCam Patterns

Each variant has been developed to provide optimum concealment within its intended environment while maintaining the design principles that make MultiCam® so effective.

Where is MultiCam® used?

MultiCam® is used by military organisations, law enforcement agencies and specialist tactical teams around the world.

Its adaptability has led to its adoption across combat uniforms, load carriage equipment and other operational products where effective concealment is essential.

As modern operational environments continue to evolve, versatile camouflage systems such as MultiCam® remain an important part of military and tactical equipment.

Genuine MultiCam® requires approval

MultiCam® is proprietary intellectual property owned by Crye Precision and cannot be reproduced without authorisation.

Manufacturers wishing to produce genuine MultiCam® fabrics must operate under licence and comply with strict approval procedures.

Every new fabric construction undergoes First Article Approval, where colour accuracy, print quality and Near Infrared (NIR) performance are rigorously assessed before production can begin.

Once approved, production batches continue to be monitored to ensure they consistently meet the required technical and visual standards before they are released.

Why it matters

Modern military operations rarely take place in a single environment. Personnel may move between woodland, open ground, urban areas and rocky terrain during the same mission.

By providing effective concealment across a wide range of conditions, MultiCam® helps reduce the need for multiple camouflage systems while supporting operational effectiveness in the field. It is this versatility that has made it one of the world’s most widely adopted camouflage patterns for military and tactical applications.
